Current events of national and international importance
History of India and Indian National Movement.
India and World Geography - Natural, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World
Indian State and Government - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Issues related to Rights, etc.
Economic and social development - continuous development, poverty, inclusion, demography, initiatives taken in social sector etc.
Common environmental issues related to ecological biodiversity and climate change, for which the thematic expertise is not necessary.
And general science
Comprehensibility
Inter-personal skills including communication skills
Logical skills and analytical ability
Decision and problem solving
General mental ability
Basic calculation (numbers and their relation, expansion sequence etc.) (Class X level), data analysis (chart, graph, table, adequacy of data etc. - Class X level)
Understanding the language in English language (level 10 level)
Note: Examining the questions of comprehension skills in the 10th grade level English language will be done only through English language, without providing Hindi translation in the question paper. All questions of the question paper will be of multiple choice, objective type and for the purpose of evaluation, it is mandatory that the candidate will be included in both the exams of the preliminary examination. You will be disqualified if you do not join both the papers of the Civil Services Preliminary Examination.
There are seven papers in the pattern of the IAS main exam:
Qualifying Papers (The marks of these papers will not be added in the final result.)
Paper (A) One of the Indian languages included in the eighth schedule of the Constitution should be selected by the candidates. Total 300 markpaper (B) English Comprehension and Summary Writing (of 10th level) Total 300 points. Ranking papers (The points of these papers will be added in the final result.)First question paperwork: Total 250 points; Second question paper
General study paper 1 - istory and geography of Indian culture and heritage, world and society): Total 250 marks question paper
General study paper 2 - Governance, constitution, state system, social justice And International Relations): Total 250 marks question paper
General studies paper 3 - Technology, economic development, biodiversity, environment, safety and Disaster management): Total 250 marks panchayat question papers
General Studies Paper 4 - Policy, Integrity and Achievement): Total 250 GQ Question Paper:
Alternative Subject (Paper - 1): Total 250 marks. Question Paper: Alternative Subject (Paper - 2): Total 250 marks
For the alternative question papers in the main examination, there is a list of approximately 26 subjects under UPSC course, of which one of the subjects should be chosen by the candidate.
Total number of marks for the written examination: 1750 Total marks for interview / personality test: 275 Total: 2025
According to the new change, candidates can now choose only one subject in the form of an alternative subject, whereas in the previous pattern, there were two alternate subjects. Studies have been made mandatory in the form of an alternative subject of any literature, in the undergraduate of the appropriate subject, otherwise choice of literature as an alternative subject will not be possible. Changes have also been made in terms of "language medium" under this new Civil Service main examination pattern.

UPSC General Studies IAS Mains Exam
Civil Service Main Examination organized by the Union Public Service Commission was released in the year 2013, under which there were some changes in the pattern of examinations. A total of 1750 points have been fixed for the main examination in this new examination system, before it was set to a total of 2000 marks. We can see these changes under the following table:
